Mater Lakes Academy (MLA) Middle/High School is celebrating its 10th year serving students in a college-style campus bordering the Town of Miami Lakes, Florida. MLA offers a Pre-Advanced Placement (AP) Program to middle school students allowing for a seamless transition into the Advanced Placement (AP) Program offered at the high school level. As a result, one-third of MLA’s high school students take AP courses with a passing rate of over 68% compared to the State’s passing rate of 55%.
MLA also offers an outstanding Performing Arts and Foreign Language Academy as well as Early Childhood and Emergency Medical Responders programs to meet diverse student interests. The school’s state-of-art facilities allow MLA to provide a wide array of athletic programs, band, dance, and drama in the Fine Arts building and blended learning technology labs.
Both the middle and high school have been designated high-performing “A” schools by the Florida Department of Education. MLA has also been recognized by several national organizations including U.S. News and World Report’s ranking of “2014 Best High Schools,” Newsweek Magazine’s “America’s Best High Schools,” The Washington Post’s “America’s Most Challenging Schools” and The Daily Beast’s ranking of “America’s Best High Schools.”
